Humanity and Berkeley needs Revolution Books but the high rents levied by the city on this bookstore and the other tenants in the Telegraph-Channing Mall are totally out of synch with the economy and are threatening the existence of Revolution Books and other small stores here.  Last September, the city council directed the city manager of Berkeley to determine whether rent rates are fair but, to date, no substantial rent adjustment has been made.

We are the first item on the Berkeley City Council Action Agenda on Jan. 21.  Your participation at this City Council meeting and statement of support is crucial: let the Mayor and the City Council know how important you feel RB is and show your support for this revolutionary all-volunteer bookstore!  Demand that the city reduce rents so that Revolution Books can thrive and put everything into serving humanity!

This world we live in is, to borrow a phrase from author Jonathan Kozol, one of savage inequalities and Revolution Books is about changing all that - bringing into being a wholly different and much better world - - a liberating alternative to global capitalism that's embodied in Bob Avakian's new synthesis of revolution and communism. This is unique and needed NOW more than ever.

Revolution Books is not only where you go for extraordinary books but it is the place to go to engage the biggest and most important questions, meet authors, artists and scientists, and to change the world!  Berkeley has played an important roll as a bellwether for social and political change and Revolution Books carries the torch in that proud tradition and is a center for revolution.  In this time of global warming, endless war, police brutality, mass incarceration, and much much more, is the city of Berkeley going to be allowed to drive Revolution Books out of business?

Support Revolution Books and the other tenants of the Telegraph-Channing Mall by demanding immediate, substantial rent reduction!
