Screening of FREEDOM SUMMER directed by Stanley Nelson

Special guest, Freedom Summer volunteer, one of those featured in the film: Linda Wetmore Halpern.
In 1964, 700 students, the majority of them white, traveled to Mississippi to join with Black activists in the South to register African Americans to vote. They courageously braved intimidation, arrests, death threats, and beatings. Three young people, Mickey Schwerner, Andrew Goodman, and James Chaney – went missing and were later found murdered.
