Am I Half Giraffe? speaks to the childhood experiences that most children confront about their identities, especially among those who are ever questioned about “being different”. It touches on the subtle forms of bullying with regard to diversity, while at the same time teaches a powerful message that the main protagonist in the book figures out. It also turns the gaze on society, to address the intentional and unintentional prejudices that we—from children to adults—sometimes engage in when we find something to fall outside of the “norm”, especially of what “family” is supposed to be.

This international children's book is making history as it is the first of its kind. Not only does it teach about diversity, it also represents it by being a quintilingual book – that is, five (5) language translations in the very same book. So imagine learning how to read and write English, French, Spanish, Korean, and Afrikaans – certainly a book for all ages!
