Black Against Empire:
The History and Politics of the Black Panther Party
- Reiko Redmonde, manager, Revolution Books
talks about the bookstore
- Rafael Kadaris, Refuse Fascism organizer speaks about November 4 - The Trump/Pence Regime Must Go!
Revolution Books has been assaulted and threatened by fascist forces - about 40 people who came for Milo Yiannopoulos' so-called "Free Speech" Week stormed the bookstore, pounding on the store's windows, making threats, calling people "commie scum," while chanting "USA, USA, USA." Some of these fascists returned to threaten the bookstore 3 more times. Threats continue.
Revolution Books is a special place that brings people together to learn about the world in a deep, scientific, and revolutionary way. It stands against everything the Trump/Pence fascist regime is about. At the heart of the store are books on the path to human emancipation and a liberated world, as concentrated in the new communism, developed by Bob Avakian.
Everyone who cares about the future of huma nity and values critical thinking - and who wants to contribute to driving the Trump/Pence fascist regime from power - should stand with Revolution Books right now. Spread the word.
A few of the many statements of support:
"It is outrageous that Revolution Books is being targeted by right-wing / fascist/ T***p-supporters. We in the Berkeley community & throughout the country are solidly on your side, & applaud your courage, tenacity, & determination. #ResistPersist" —Joyce Carol Oates, author
"It horrifies me to hear that our beloved Revolution Books was targeted by vicious white supremacists. Bookstores like Revolution Books are examples of the best this nation has to offer: freedom-loving, science-celebrating, creativity-inspiring. It's one of the many heartbeats of this wonderful community of ours, and we won't allow it to be silenced or destroyed." —Ayelet Waldman, author
“An attack on Revolution Books is an attack on us all, on our freedom of inquiry in the quest of knowledge, ideas, truth if you will. No society can long exist without that freedom, and neither can the world in the age of ‘Globalization.’ The empire gone mad to protect the concentrated wealth and power of the few threatens the ability of the Earth herself to sustain life. Those who govern us deny science itself, science born from the very impulse of inquiry, and foster dangerously narrow allegiances and a broad belligerence fostering racism, xenophobia, intolerance, hatred, and violence. We, as a community, must resist with all our will and strength these not only villainous but insane forces that infect the nation.” —Rafael Jesús González, Poet Laureate of the City of Berkeley, California; Prof. Emeritus of writing & literature
